Three Heresies Come Through Christ the Rock

“Many things combine to make the present inroad of false doctrine peculiarly, dangerous: There is an undeniable zeal in some of the teachers of error: their ‘earnestness’ makes many think they must be right. There is a great appearance of learning… many fancy that such clever and intellectual men must surely be safe guides. …. many like to prove their independence of judgment, by believing novelties. There is a wide-spread desire to appear charitable and liberal-minded…. There is a quantity of half-truth taught by the modern false teachers: they are incessantly using Scriptural terms and phrases in an unscriptural sense. There is a silly readiness in every direction to believe everybody who talks cleverly, lovingly, and earnestly, and a determination to forget that Satan is often ‘transformed into an angel of light.’ (2 Corinthians 2:14) There is a wide-spread ‘gullibility’ among professing Christians: every heretic who tells his story plausibly is sure to be believed, and everybody who doubts him is called a persecutor and a narrow-minded man.

JC Ryle, (1816-1900.) “A Warning to the Churches”

In August of 2009, I posted warnings through the Shouts of Joy Ministries Facebook Wall, my newsletter, and the blog about how Christ the Rock’s refusal to allow Christ to be the Head of the church was beginning to result in the spread of heresies and that three distinct heresies would be promoted through the organization.

The first was Modeletics, construed by a man named John Lenhart. Lenhart creates a systematic comprehensive non biblical model of who God is, who we are, and how we are to relate to God.  Because he changes the orthodox belief about the Godhead the teaching becomes a heresy.  These significant changes of belief were taught in the young adults ministry at CTR until confronted with the heretical nature of the system of belief.

The second heresy to be promoted by Christ the Rock is the “Insider Movement” that “pigeonholes” Christianity with Islam. For more details on the Insider Movement heresy, please visit my “Chrislam Refuted” page and the links posted below.

The third heresy that got maybe the most public attention was “Social Justice” promoted by Jim Wallis.  Wallis was invited to be the main speaker on the Friday night of Lifest the following year. To introduce him that evening Bob Lenz Director and founder of Life Promotions said that Wallis is the man who made him the man he is today.

My blog post entitled “Serious Prophecy about Chrislam in the Fox Valley” details the prophetic Words from the Lord in addition to my critique of some of the heretical teachings promoted at the “Jesus in the Quran” conference hosted by Christ the Rock.

I also sent the following newsletters and blog posts on the subject:

Refutation of “Modeling God”

“Lenhart’s theological teaching (in the book “Modeling God” by John Lenhart) fundamentally denies core tenants of the Christian faith. Similar to other “quasi-Christian” theological offerings such as Mormonism or ancient Gnosticism, Lenhart’s theology presents a fundamentally different god than the God of the Bible, and offers a completely non-Biblical theological perspective for sin and God’s gift of salvation. As such “Modeling God” must be placed outside the bounds of what is considered fundamentally “Christian.”
